Race Evaluation

MNOC Whitetail Woods: Red


1. P D P R 2 +00:10Lost some time for reading the map. I could not see the detail on the last half of the leg due to aging eyes. I need to get a magnifying glass or wear my glasses instead of contacts.
2. P D P R 2 Picked a good route and executed well.
3. P D P R 2 Had trouble reading the detail near the circle. Eye problems again. Slow on the uphills.
4. P D P R 1 Handrailed the reentrant and then used the compass to run a straight bearing accross open ground.
5. P D P R 1 perfectly executed, and fast, for me.
6. P D P R 2 +00:40With the risk of the marsh I should have cheated furthur north before crossing the marsh. Once the opposite shore was breached, I did not have a good plan to find the spur.
7. P D P R 1 +00:10Hit the fence 20 meters south of the control. Should have honed the bearing as I closed in. Was tired from climbing the hill.
8. P D P R 2 +00:30Leaving the the circle I did not have a good understanding of the leg. Was afraid of crossing marshes after the last one and did not see a direct marsh crossing as an option until I saw how dry it was from above. I should have headed straight for the trail junction on the opposite side of the marsh. Once the error was realized, I corrected and executed well.
9. P D P R 1 From the top of the hill I took a bearing on a barn and jut followed that in until I sighted the distinct treeline.
10. P D P R 1 Well executed on a bearing thru some obstacles. Leaving the circle I enjoyed running thru the pines so much that I changed my plan to include more eastward white woods.
11. P D P R 3 A good plan executed pretty well. A little too slow dodging the campers.
12. P D P R 2 Not bad.
13. P D P R 2 +04:00Cut thru the crossable marsh. Should have read the vegetation species before committing to the crossing. Note to self. READ THE VEG BEFORE COMMITTING!
14. P D P R 2 +00:25Was waling on the downhills, completely cashed out by the marsh crossing on the previous leg. READ THE VEG BEFORE COMMITTING! Well, I did and this crossing went better. did not have a clear idea of what to do once across. Brain not thinking clearly due to the previous leg's exertions. READ THE VEG BEFORE COMMITTING!
15. P D P R 1 Not bad. Slowly executed. Tired. I am thinking that I should run down on Green or brown from now on.
16. P D P R 2 Nicely done. Read the contours well.
17. P D P R 2 +00:20Did not execute the route choice well. Kept running into the trail when not expecting to. The norther route looks better to me in hindsight. Did not have a good plan for the attack. Why didn't I contour thru the white woods at the end. I was tired.
18. P D P R 1 Not bad.
F. P D P R 0 +00:10Did not hustle to the finish. Too slow.
