Return to the Water Gap Day 1: Red

tdgood

1. Road to past little marsh. Past bigger marsh. Took it slow to make sure I got off to a good start.
2. South across the trail by the umcrossable swamp, past hill and up reentrant. Hesitated on the way then realized just run by the mail swamp. Wasn't sure what side of the hill the control was going to be on.
3. +04:00Headed west to get across swamp. Passed Claire Durand and Sharon Crawford. Crossed swamp then headed to the control. Unfortunately I forget to adjust for having running west initially. I crossed the stone wall without paying attention to it and ran to the next hill. No control. DOAH!!!. Wandered a little farther then remembered last week what bad leg I had wandering so decided to bail to the pond. On the way to the pond found the control. Got lucky after having screwed up.
4. +00:30Straight but got off to the east. Ran to far and started going up hill past the control. Had second doubts and decided to run back down. Saw Karen Williams who started 2 minutes behind me as I left the control.
5. +00:15Passed Claire Durand again. Headed to upper trail then decided to cut down to lower trail. Passed Sharon Crawford again. Took trail to the first stream crossing. Saw control from long way off and ran hard to it. It wasn't mine. Ran to the correct control.
6. +00:30Up to the trail. Hit a the junction. Passed James Bullett. Down trail to Pond. Angled up hill to upper trail. Down trail to where it hit the wet ditch. I thought this was farther down the trail so cut off the trail, Up over hill to the pond. Pond???? Figured out where I was and ran over to the spur. Ran down the spur to the control. Spur was green and difficult to run down.
7. Straitish. Came up spur to the east and cut over to control.
8. +01:15East to cliffs by clearing. Continued to run hard and got close and paused. Had I run by the control or was I just short. While I was deciding, Tim Parsons came up. paused, and ran over the hill. Ok, good enough for me. A few steps in that direction and there was the control
9. +02:00Northeast, crossed the stream and up, up, up the hill. Angled two much and hit the swamp in the middle. Ran east to avoid the green farther on. So tired after the climb. Crossed the trail. Everything going well. By the clearing, knew exactly where I was. Then got to high and missed the spur. Saw the marsh down the hill and realized I had gone to far. Ran back.
10. To the quarry area. Up hill to the ridge. So tired.
