Race Evaluation

DVOA Mt. Penn - Antietam: Red

swedemd

1. confused by trails but eventually relocated off of rocky spur, saw Mrs. Weyman coming out of platform or I might have missed it
2. on bearing from hilltop across road and trail
3. straight but ended up a little low
4. went across powerlines on trail to bend and then straight over rocky spur, pretty green but I would have walked the trail anyway
5. straight across green muck
6. to trail right of the ruin, had to double back as I ran past control
7. along ruined stone wall/road to road then straight to bend in trail then straight to control. I wasn't paying very close attention but control came up faster than I thought it should have
8. straight
9. to road, followed dry ditch and then came out Skyline Drive at tower, then down into rocky mess. I thought I found intermittent trail that would lead me to control but it didn't. Wandered back along base of hill and happened upon control.
10. along trail to wide reentrant past little hills on left, down and in to control
11. came back up to wide trail and then down at vague bend and dip in elevation, slow but safe route
12. wanted to go straight across but ended up drifting down and eventually went to trail and then back up to control
13. slow going up will to cairn and then over Skyline Drive, treacherous descent on other side but found wall and control easily
14. planned straight but drifted left of line, came out on road near private home then straight to ruin
15. planned straight but went right due to green, attacked of curve on trail and straight to platform, control was there at that time
16. to Y intersection then down hill past green then straight to control
17. to trail intersections then through green to first boulder then on to second boulder
18. straight to second trail and then a nice run to control
F. a very nice run into finish. I've had a lot of Achilles pain this season but didn't feel it on this leg.
