Race Evaluation

Colorado 5 Day: A-Day 2: Red

Nadim

1.
2.
3. +00:30I was left of the pit but fortunately saw a woman near it.
4.
5. +00:20I was left of the rock/cliff and had to come back to it.
6. +00:20I got too high on the hill and had to come back down.
7. Attacking form the saddle, this came-up more quickly than I thought it would.
8. +05:00I came from the right side and checked my contour at the fence intersection as did others going this way. Attacking from the knoll, I'm not sure but think I didn't get far enough down at first. Then I took to wandering, having difficulty reading the rocks. I found the Blue control, wandered back and then back up to the knoll. This time I found it with a little luck. Others who I'd passed earlier had already come through.
9. +00:15I ran to the spur across the road to be safe. Even then, I stopped one rock (shown as bare rock) too short and took some time to realize it.
10. +02:00I ran mostly straight and tried to use the contours more than the rock. I caught and passed one competitor. Realizing that I'd passed it, I turned back and so did the other guy. I found it and tried to sneak away unsuccessfully.
11. +01:30Just trying to rush out, I didn't consider the road option until it was too late. I made good time, letting myself drift south toward the road. I used the clearing and distinct reentrant west of the control to attack from. I missed and wondered what could be the rocky spur feature since the circle was said to be offset incorrectly. I passed it and came back to find it.
12. I ran left of the line to avoid some rock but as I ate a Gu, I didn't cut back. Realizing this, I adjusted and estimate the angle I'd need. It worked as the angle I came from let me see the control 250M out--others going more direct had it hidden behind the tombstone-like rock.
13. Straight and quick!
14. Straight again, checking my line at the road split.
F. Nice downhill!
