Race Evaluation

QOC Balls Bluff: Red

cmpbllv

1. P D P R 3 along the top, counting reentrants.
2. P D P R 3 down the spur, up the trail and attack from junction was the plan...ended up coming up the reentrant, it was closer to the line and easy running.
3. P D P R 4 +02:27Slow from being hesitant, probably some slowdown crossing the stream near 14. Better route was probably left, Jon said it was quite runnable. The attack in through 12 could have been better, felt like something was skewed on the map here, came out rather far left despite coming right up the ditch.
4. P D P R 3 Saw it from a ways out, my pace reflects this. Knew I was looking for something at the edge of the hilltop. Botched this on my rerun.
5. P D P R 4 +01:35The trail straight to the control is rather farther left than mapped (confirmed 2x on rerun). Ended up bashing, had some trouble with what was up and what was down, found the further pit first.
6. P D P R 3 +00:30Should have just blown out to the trail instead of bashing through the green.
7. P D P R 3 +00:20Too far left. Both times.
8. P D P R 3 +03:26Knew I was falling down the spur, headed in generally the right direction, but got pulled right and ended up left of the ditch, stopped at the trail by the fence. Thought I was actually at the end of the trail U to the north, took awhile to figure out just how I'd screwed this one up and correct. Nailed it on the rerun, helped that I followed the ditch out of 7 to the trail.
9. P D P R 3 straight at it, picked up the trail at the stream crossing for an easy attack in. Closer to the line than on my rerun by a hair.
10. P D P R 3 Great use of big picture, fastest pace because I really understood where I was going. Must do more of this.
11. P D P R 3 +00:20Off a good bit right. A bit left on the rerun. Just vague, and my rough compass was weak today.
12. P D P R 4 +00:05Knew what I was looking for, had been here before. Got off a bit left and hit the trail junction, came in and bashed thru instead of easy trail run over top.
13. P D P R 3 Good picture, aided by others punching just before me.
14. P D P R 4 Really nice route choices here. I didn't see the option above the cliffs, or I might have taken it. Instead, just bashed straight across, which made for a good attack of the corner of the battlefield area. Good split, but wonder if it could have been better? Maybe not, straight was pretty runnable once I got up the spur.
15. P D P R 4 +00:30Cut up to the trial and ran across, but missed the junction to turn down initially, had to confirm off the parking lot first.
16. P D P R 3 +00:15Hesitated hard when I saw the control on the stream bend. I wasn't sure I had gone along the right stream for a moment, and compass wasn't totally helping. There's another reentrant / ditch a bit earlier than the one with the control in it.
17. P D P R 3 +00:45Stayed high, perhaps a bit too high. Thrown off by the parking lot, playground, and shelter that weren't mapped.
18. P D P R 3 straight at it, racing another runner.
19. P D P R 4 Popped out to the trail behind the other runner, attacked from the junction, never saw the other guy again.
20. P D P R 4 +00:15Contoured around, a bit low - found a ditch junction that wasn't mapped and almost panicked, but realized the next spur was probably the right shape and then saw the flag.
F. P D P R 2 To the trail and in.
