DVOA Training Weekend - Hickory Run: Green

Wyatt

1. +00:40Went straight. Apparently up to the trail and along was better as Angelica beat me doing that and I had little trouble on the straight route.
2. Hit both little depressions on the way in - that area's tough and I didn't want to wander around in there.
3. +03:00Blew by this one. Was mostly on track then (a) saw Alison, and (b) saw the weak trail, and so I ran really hard until the trail crossed a vague reentrant, except that it was too vague and I went way by it. I was starting to wonder if I'd overshot when Alison said "hey, didn't we pass it?"... :|
4. To the creek, then along spur next to creek. Despite the fast-bail-to-creek route I couldn't shake Alison - she was doing well.
5. Ran up a line of people (esp. Randy) to this one, and had been in this depression the day before too.
6. Attacked from trail junc. It's vague in there so the near attack was helpful.
7. A bit right, probably passing through saddle, then down re-entrant/depression.
8. +00:30Around right. Probably would've been okay if I'd started right instead of going mostly straight to the road. Around left taking the trail would've been good too. I wasn't really expecting a route choice needed to be map. Oops.
9. Straight. Verified I crossed two streams about the right distance apart, then up to wide hilltop, then in.
10. +00:10Bearing + 2 streams. Drifted R but was aware as I'd checked compass a few times, and swerved back in pretty quickly.
11. Basically up the spur to the R of line, then looped around where veg. allowed. Hilltop/field wouldn't allow a serious miss, so bearing/simplification was fine.
12. Pretty straight.
F. Had to push a bit as I didn't want Alison beating me in the chute...
