Race Evaluation

Mt. Penn - Pagoda: Red

PG

1. Not at all together. Thrashed around in the barberry for a while, then got out in the open forest and proceeded to spike #6. Turned out to be not a bad attack point for #1.
2. Angled to the trail, into the control via the charcoal platform.
3.
4. Back around on the trail, in from above.
5. Very slow up the steep hill through lots of rocks. Farther right would have been better.
6. Left of straight, less rocky. Mark Voit caught me here (he started 3 minutes after).
7. Thrashed around in the same junk near the start, Mark is gone.
8. Across road to trail, on trail past bend, in due south via teeny stone wall. Mark is back.
9. Across the road, picked up the smaller trail angling down towards the control. It turned out to be a mountain bike obstacle course - a bunch of felled trees with ranmps and bridges. Fun, sort of. Mark went on higher trail, just ahead of me at the control
10. Straight through the green to the second trail, came out right at the junction with the small trail heading to the uphill side of the control. Mark went down to the road, still about the same amount ahead.
11.
12.
13. Trying hard to miss the worst of the thorns.
14.
15. Climbed up out of the control. I think lower route was better?
16.
17. Slow in the rocks
18. Lower route, trail to the phone line, then contoured to the next trail.
19.
