2007 USOF Convention and Colorado 5-Days: Night-O Red

tdgood

1. I hate Night O's. Once I settled down, I did ok, but the start was so bad. I couldn't find my lilghts so bought new ones in Colorado Springs. They didn't shine as far so i couldn't read any features at a distance. I took the road to the bend but ended up way south of the control (by the trail/marsh).
2. I was again way right and hit the fence. Ran past the building to the control.
3. Found a water and had some. It was going to be a long night at this pace. Finally an easy control. I had been in this area previously. Ended up at the reentrant to the right. Finally cut back to the correct area. Control was hidden against a pine tree. I spent some time looking for it even when I knew I was at the correct feature.
4. Ended up way left. Came back and still had trouble finding it.
5. Ran the fence corner. I knew exactly where I was but still couldn't find the control. I just kept checking cliffs until I found one with the conrol. There was no excuse to hide this one.
6. Finally settled down.
7.
8. trail the fence corner. Cut in too soon and ended up having to crawl through all the cliffs to get the correct cliff.
9. Straight. Knew exactly where I was but still ended up on the wrong spur.
10. Cut to far east and ended up at the depression which gave a good attack point.
11. straight
12. dropped down to the road. Control was easy coming from the road junction but very hard from the top.
13. Ended up to high and had to cut back down the reentrant.
14. straight
15. Run to the tree
F. Hey, same finish leg. I was 15 seconds faster than the previous saturday.
