Race Evaluation

2013 IS IC Championships: Day 1 - Red

ifjones

1. Leg one was pretty easy. drifted a little bit to the left, but there was no major loss of time.
2. +00:15Again I drifted to the left. This could have been easily fixed by noticing that the point was on the corner of the open field. Ended up having to go back up hill through some brush to get to the point.
3. Point 3 was easy, just needed to cut in at the right point.
4. 4 was pretty east, especially because it was placed at the top of the hill on the side facing point 3. I was able to see it from quite a ways.
5. +00:25Should have cut left around the green.
6. +01:20Dumb mistakes. Did not cut the field to get to the trail that led to the powerlines. I then took the wrong branch of trail inside the control circle
7. Tried getting on a trail to get out of the woods, which worked alright. From there things were pretty straight forward.
8. Dog leg.
9. +06:00My major error on the course. I decided that I would be tricky and cut across the first bridge rather than go around the lake. Ended up getting confused when I ran into a stream earlier than expected and though I had hit my point.
10. +00:20Slight bauble. Went to the wrong point, but was able to correct pretty quickly.
11. +03:00Messed up again. At this point Eck had caught up to me. This proved pretty distracting and I got all turned around in the woods around point 11. Need to remember to run my own race when I see other people on my course.
12. Easy considering I had already run to this point.
13. Just used a compass bearing to get to this point.
14. Handrailed the ridge.
15. +00:10Another compass bearing point. cut down a little bit too early.
16. +00:30Went around to the other side of the lake first then at the point. Should have gone straight for it from the beginning.
17. Went right of the baseball diamond. I should have cut through the open fence though.
F. Go control.
