4. | Caught up to Sam and Hillary
5. | Headed straight out to road and whoops, can't run along it, so crossed over and up hill into green with Terry K. Eventually got out to the long straight section. Passed Ed K on the trail, then caught up to Susie DeWitt and some others near the big rocks on the spur. Some folks were insisting they weren't on the map, but that didn't seem likely. Caught up to Scott T near the bag.
6. | Scott got away quickly. It was real thick up there. No trouble navigating, but plenty trouble getting through. Susie D caught up again.
7. | Alittle left of line, crossed second trail near boulder, up and over spur near E end of wall, saw Scott ahead of me.
8. | Easy leg along trail, caught up to Scott.
9. | Up hill following Scott, not paying enough attention. Saw Terry and Susie going down to 8, crossed a trail, then came to another, and couldn't figure it out. Milled around a while until Terry and Susie got there and helped me in.
10. | Behind Terry, pretty much along the line. followed wall for a bit.
11. | |||||||
12. | Incl :55 drinking and eating, got out to road and, puzzled, headed right. Crossed strip of green over to trail near road. Up trail to #13, drifted a little right, but got there OK, a bit behind Terry and Darrell?
13. | Easy now, having been there before.
14. | Pulled up a bit short and slow going in, still with Terry and Darrell
15. | Terry away off up the hill to the right.
16. | Darrell disappears in the distance, the last runner I saw the rest of the way. Nice leg. Up to the bend in trail just N of control, down the spur.
17. | Fun going down the trail. Felt like I was making good time, but splits show I was pretty slow.
18. | Walked most of this, just right of line. Hit trail before control at top of hill, in on compass, checking off rocks, and spent a minute on top of an identical, unmapped knoll 30 m. to the North.
19. | This was fun, along the box stone wall and straight in.
20. | Contoured around W rather than climb a line or two, uneventful.
21. | Maybe not such a good choice. Up the re-entrant just right of line, along trail by the two dry ponds, then easy from there. I know Peter went low around on the lower trail. I got lost around here last year (or was it the year before?)
22. | Back to the main trail and headed for junction. Couldn't find trail on left! Started through woods, then found root stock and then trail
23. | Pretty much straight. Saw building at top of ski lift, but was up the cliffs a few lines and tricky footing.
24. | Up the ski run to the junction and around the trail-road-trail to the left. I was real pleased with the route, because blister and hamstring and general fatigue wouldn't have been a good match for over the top.
25. | Got to the spur and stood on it for a while before I found the bag.
26. | Stone wall, boulder and in.
27. | Passed Michael Commons on the way down the hill and congratulated him on doing so well in the Traverse.
