1. 342m 3:42 19 +1:27 64% 66.4 10:49   342m 3:42 19 +1:27 64% 10:49 I went high. I didn't read the map enough on the trail out of the start, and so had to stop halfway to find all the reentrants I needed/used for navigation on the map.
2. 225m 1:59 18 +37 45% 75.6 8:48   567m 5:41 20 +2:04 57% 10:01
3. 391m 3:51 19 +53 30% 79.2 9:50   958m 9:32 15 +2:33 37% 9:57 I ran alongside Sergey Gnatiouk, but he was not on my course.
4. 266m 2:10 12 +30 30% 80.0 8:08   1224m 11:42 12 +3:03 35% 9:33
5. 146m 1:48 28 +55 104% 50.3 37 12:19   1370m 13:30 14 +3:51 40% 9:51 I went conservatively wide, avoiding all green and having a rock-solid idea of where I was. Seeing how many people had problems on this leg, I think the 40 or so seconds AP thinks I have lost were well worth it.
6. 297m 3:54 12 +45 24% 84.8 13:07   1667m 17:24 11 +3:46 28% 10:26 I went around because I didn't think my skills would be sufficient to nail this smoothly going downhill. I'd have to stop and walk.
7. 76m 51 17 +18 55% 67.3 11:11   1743m 18:15 11 +3:47 26% 10:28

9. 494m 6:03 11 +1:53 45% 73.1 12:14   2837m 30:36 10 +5:17 21% 10:47 I passed Brendan, who seemed to not be in much hurry. At the end of the leg, I found someone who I didn't know poking around the cliff.
10. 170m 1:17 7 +17 28% 81.0 7:32   3007m 31:53 10 +5:24 20% 10:36
11. 136m 1:47 23 +35 49% 71.0 13:06   3143m 33:40 11 +5:53 21% 10:42
12. 1020m 9:07 17 +2:32 38% 76.5 8:56   4163m 42:47 11 +7:46 22% 10:16 This other runner passed me right at the beginning of the uphill trail run, and I never saw him again. I was doing well on the sidehill until I confused the field of vertical green lines with the major reentrant N of the control, and ran down a steep slope whereas I should have descended more gradually. I don't think this cost me much.
13. 303m 2:18 11 +32 30% 78.0 7:35   4466m 45:05 11 +8:03 22% 10:05
14. 268m 2:05 17 +31 33% 78.7 7:46   4734m 47:10 12 +8:24 22% 9:57 I initially wanted to go along the major road, but seeing that the woods weren't too green or rocky, changed my mind and continued inside the forest.
15. 101m 37 17 +10 37% 77.5 6:06   4835m 47:47 12 +8:28 22% 9:52 Some kids and then Chuck Ferguson were in my way on the rocky portion of the run-in.
