1. 364m 2:04 9 +23 23% 86.8 5:40   364m 2:04 9 +23 23% 5:40 So Fredrickson was starting 30 seconds after me, and as I was getting ready, he was yelling something, but I wasn't paying attention. Just as I turned my map over and found the triangle, it registered that he was saying, "Go straight, J-J!". So I did. All the way to the control, even when I couldn't figure out what I was seeing on the map. And a second faster than John — so fine!
2. 184m 1:22 20 +16 24% 82.1 7:25   548m 3:26 14 +37 22% 6:15 Blew past Phil by making good time across the edge of the marsh.
3. 80m 36 30 +12 50% 72.2 7:30   628m 4:02 13 +46 23% 6:25 Very slight hesitation in the first few steps.
4. 112m 44 23 +10 29% 81.8 6:32   740m 4:46 13 +56 24% 6:26 John passes me.
5. 148m 59 15 +11 23% 85.3 6:38   888m 5:45 13 +1:03 22% 6:28 Not too far behind John.
6. 144m 1:05 28 +15 30% 77.4 7:31   1032m 6:50 14 +1:14 22% 6:37 John still in sight.
7. 108m 58 39 +18 45% 72.4 8:57   1140m 7:48 15 +1:22 21% 6:50 My last sighting of John.
8. 292m 1:53 21 +24 27% 79.4 6:26   1432m 9:41 14 +1:46 22% 6:45 Pretty much straight, though I misread the bouncing map and somehow thought I was way off to the left at the bigger knoll. Angled downhill a little, saw the big boulder to my right, and hung a left into the reentrant.
9. 128m 51 24 +9 21% 83.0 6:38   1560m 10:32 16 +1:55 22% 6:45
10. 148m 1:01 25 +15 33% 80.9 6:52   1708m 11:33 16 +2:04 22% 6:45 Caught Kathy Bullard on this leg, and noticed that she can really move along pretty fast!
11. 84m 53 64 +25 89% 55.3 16 10:30   1792m 12:26 19 +2:26 24% 6:56 Off a little to the left, stopped at the base of the reentrant, which looked more subtle than I was expecting (i.e. I didn't notice it at first). A little confused because I couldn't find the trail (ride) on the map, but Kathy said, "There it is", and I turned to see it just to my right.
12. 112m 40 15 +4 11% 90.8 5:57   1904m 13:06 19 +2:27 23% 6:52
13. 184m 55 25 +10 22% 83.0 4:58   2088m 14:01 20 +2:25 21% 6:42 Pursuing some cadets who went the wrong way around the thicket, but I was astute and nailed it.
14. 176m 48 34 +11 30% 78.5 4:32   2264m 14:49 20 +2:32 21% 6:32
