shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

Carsington Water
ran from the visitors centre with Paul, we were taking it easy, supposedly, but easily the quickest Monday night run I've done, hard surfaces and no stops, bit laboured after the ten km mark, I'd say the Race Ultras were suited for this kind of thing, longer road and track runs, but I wanted them for mixed road and muddly trails

5 PM

Core Conditioning 10:00 [0]

KV's core-conditioning and hip stretches

Sunday Mar 26 #

11 AM

Orienteering race 1:14:25 [5] 11.0 km (6:46 / km) +200m 6:12 / km
ahr:158 max:172 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Midland Champs, Bentley Woods
a second Midland Champs win at Bentley Woods (first was 1984) wasn't to be, maybe it was the warmth, more likely nerves, got dry mouth before start and felt less than strong, didn't get going until after the road crossing, struggling for pace meant orienteering was loose at the edges, some marginally sub-optimal decisions, but nothing major

18th, 10mins behind Chas and 4mins behind Alistair Landels

distance estimated, Garmin not started until road crossing

Friday Mar 24 #

ahr:142 max:165 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

South Common
steady run around the stuff already drawn, then some hill intervals on rough grass: 4 x 51secs, (180m, with 20+ climb), off 75secs rest; then an easier run through some stuff yet to be visited

TE: 3.9

Thursday Mar 23 #

ahr:147 max:163 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Stanton Stripes
terrain run in Stanton, mostly heather, some bracken and bramble, more aerobically challenging than an hour on the paths.

TE: 4.5
