Day 2 world masters qualification.
Another poor race... just could not get into the map and no 6 was killer as it was short leg from the trail and I lost like 7 minutes.
Sloppy sloppy no excuse.

Day one qualification World Masters. Another day of screwing up. Was ok till no 9 and coming up from a trail everything looked the same and missed the control. Hit a trail and had to relocate. Coming out of 9 I hit no 11 first.
Lost time on 2 controls in a row. Can't do that at a championship meet.

Model Map. Very cool pine forest with lots of dot knolls, hills and depressions to read. Also had a control out by the Tazman Sea....the waves were rolling in.
Should be very nice area for the qualification meets, but better be careful not to need to relocate.
Had the chance to drive today the rental car, left sided!

Orienteering Meet race 16:33 [5] *** 2.2 km (7:31 / km)
spiked:15/17c shoes: Silver Solomon

Sprint B final..... well it was less complicated then yesterday.
Started out in a park then went onto campus. Not near as tricky. Was doing well and had to take a tunnel out, strange as I took a left right away but was still a building over. Took a minute or two to figure that out of course.
Looked like I could of had the fastest time in the B final except on the way to no 4 I passed no 6. After 5 I headed to 7... guess I thought I was close enough. Ha ha
Some good results by Americans as Dennis took 5th Sharron took 3rd and Pavalina took first!
Never thought I would be glad the sprints are over, on to the thick wooded qualifications.

Orienteering Meet race 26:44 [4] *** 2.6 km (10:17 / km) +42m 9:31 / km
spiked:11/14c shoes: Silver Solomon

World Masters Sprint qualification.
Really poor race for me today. Very complex beginning of the course with lots of fence, stairs and walls around buildings on multiply levels. I tried to be carful but still got to 4 before 2.
2, 6, and 9 I had the worse splits of anybody just about!
A maze of people running around with controls all over that came up way too quick. No A final for me. Will have to do well in the B tomorrow.

Hiking 1:00:00 [2] 4.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: Silver Solomon

Hike up the old volcano Mt Eden in town from the meet center. Very nice 360 views of Auckland and the area.

Orienteering Related 42:00 [1] 2.2 km (19:05 / km)
shoes: Silver Solomon

Model event on Massy something campus. Really easy model, but when your running fast watch out!
Jan and I just walked and did alternate memory controls.
