Running 50:00 [3] 7.0 km (7:09 / km)

Very slow photo trip on a gorgeous morning. The cloud had lifted. Stunning. Foot bad although had been good all race. Very little sleep last night. Stomach cramps - had them all weekend and my tablets in my lost bag. Other than that I've just about made it through!

Running 20:00 [3] 3.5 km (5:43 / km)

MaƱana jogging. To a small church. Dreich some might say. Still gorgeous though.

Running 49:58 [3] 4.7 km (10:38 / km)

Vertical Km cara Amon. Skyrunning World Series.
Course rerouted due to bad weather. Full blog story to come soon. Training diary notes here.

Good race. Started fast as it did last year but had the confidence to rein myself in after a few minutes. Then got into a good tempo and could get myself up to 2nd by the end of the first steep bit (1km and about 400m climb). Running all the way, altitude seemingly not an issue (start at 1100).

Flatter section helped me make a gap on Alba of about 1 min. Hit the snow and another steep climb and faffed getting gloves on. Slippy. Still the same gap - frustrated not to me making more time up on her.

Hit flatter section but 40cm snow, cloud, horizontal hail. 30m visibility and that painful too much white feeling. Stopped looking back - couldn't see anyone or anything in front. Trying to push hard but it felt more like survival than a race.

Hit second drinks point. Prob 150m climb left in about 800m. Snow deeper, hit the 2000m altitude mark. Really started to tire. Pushed on. Delighted to be second.

1st a class act (ski-mo and last years world champ). Never saw her 90 secs ahead at finish. Nicely I made up another minute on alba so 2mjns down to third.

Very pleased. My progress this winter is translating to VKs too but I was helped by the runnable course. I barely walked a step except slipping or on rocks. Weak field tho it has to be said.

Running 50:00 [3] 7.0 km (7:09 / km)

Run down the hill and warm up.

As a side note for interested cyclist fans, mr c bassons was entered and a good friend of my teammate didier's. spent a lot of coffee and mealtimes with the bassons family. Lovely lot. Very interesting insights on things past and present...

Note

Had thought I might get a sneaky run in once I arrived in Pyrenees. But a combination of me needing some extra clothes as bag still in Paris and didier's need to have a coffee everywhere we stopped meant this didn't happen. No real bother. Long day.
