Kings Wood - tempo session

Just a single reduced session this week as feeling tired and want to get back on it for the weekend and next week. Didn't make it easy though!

Stuck to forest roads and a small wooded hill climb.

10 threshold (gently uphill) (1min off), 1 min hard
3min jog
4x 1min hills
3min jog
5min threshold (1min off), 1 min hard

Enjoyed it once I had the first threshold done

Kings Wood - Kent

Middle practice / bearing practice. Classic southern, flat/ slightly undulating wood with bingo depressions and lots of green.

Good training and work on my compass/ exit directions. Was able to move well through the green and kept a good line despite the low vis. Some really nice pockets of beech and bluebell woods too.

A couple of big felled areas and dense green plantation that wasn't mapped and caught me out but pretty solid.

Good to get some more time on a map. Legs felt a touch flat.

Running 14:16 [3] 3.0 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #4 blue/red

Back to the car on paths, a wee little effort to begin but then just cruised it in to warm down.

Left hamstring feels tight and painful, esp well straightening my knee. Need to get on the rehab for it and nip it before it turns into anything else.

Busy day so just a very easy run from the hotel in Kent. Tried to make for the coast path but got stuck in a housing estate and couldn't escape.

Midland Champs - Bentley Woods middle race

Started well and feeling like I was getting on. Legs felt tired and was blowing hard from the off.

Nav was for the most part brilliant. I was very focused and running well on the edge and just about keeping that buffer of a plan together.
This started to fall apart a little around 11, but I took a breather on the exit and got straight back on it.

Caught sight of Rhys ahead (had made 90sec up on him) between 20-21, and pushed too hard. Unknowingly beat him into 22 but went out 90 degrees the wrong way out of it, making things fit, running hard. Once the alarm bells were going and I reached the 'control', I was a long way from where I should be. Crap. Lost 3:20 on that one leg.

Biggest misses: Lost about a minute at 8. I was within 2m but ran straight past as it was hidden in the holly.
Small wobble on 11 and 30sec lost at 17.

Happy with how I ran and definitely found the max of where I can still keep the nav going. Without that one big mistake I would have been up with Will (20sec behind him at 21).
A good lesson for a couple of weeks time.

Rugby urban

Wanted to just to cruise round and get it right. A fiddly start threw me a little and it took me a while to get into it.

Again some dodgy routes and falling into traps but after screwing 11 I decided to run it properly. Was clean from here and had a good buffer but no real speed left in the legs.
