Very chuffed with the overall JK result! 13th overall and 10th Brit. Massive improvement from last year! Deffinaely promising for when I don't have a dodgy ankle. Very happy girly :)

(rest day)

I think commentating counted as an elite sport today! No computers or radio control connections so it was all through numbers and note pads.
Ankle was still sore last night so I decided to give today a miss. Probably a good idea to give it a rest for a few more days now to get it back to normal

Walking 40:00 [1] 3.0 km (13:20 / km)

Went for a walk with Sammy before stuffing my face with curry :)

Orienteering long 1:03:27 [5] 7.3 km (8:42 / km)
ahr:188 max:209 slept:9.0

JK Long. - joint 14th - 4 foreigners ahead of me - and 17:02 minutes down (Rachel Brown is an absolute beast)
Much happier with this!! A really good run! I was a bit nervous about the distance as I haven't run much more than a 5km course before but I coped just fine with my jelly babies.
Decided to focus on the nav and let the speed do its own thing. The method deffinaely payed off as I had minimal mistakes.
Dodgy routechoice on 1: should have just taken the path
Clean until 8 when I just overshot by 10m. Noticed quickly
Clean until 14 when I just went too far left but realised what was happening and fixed my line.
Clean until 18 when I tried to cut off the path too early. Again I corrected myself quickly.
I'd probably call that around 2 minutes of mistakes if that. The rest purely down to speed and strength which is still building. Happy girl!

Note

Even though my run was far better today and I was higher on the results list, my % behind the leader was more...

Orienteering 39:47 [5] *** 4.1 km (9:42 / km)
ahr:185 max:212

JK Middle: Windmill Hill
17th - 9:13 down
Overall I lost 5:25 minutes. Which would have put me 4 minutes down.
Not happy. Was so worried about my ankle which didn't put my head in the right place and I was more focused on the pain than the orienteering.
As soon as I started making mistakes I started feeling really sick. I was freezing cold (even though it was 23°) and I was shaking and crying. I was still shaking when I finished and for about an hour after.
Didn't have enough strength to get through the forest and I walked nearly half of it. (Mostly out of pain)
Absolutely gutted.
Fingers crossed my ankle will be stable enough for me to run tomorrow! I'm taking the confidence of knowing I can do it when only being 4 mins down without mistakes with an ankle I don't trust, that hurts and that's playing with my mind. Will strap up and go out with a different mindset tomorrow!!
