Nomad/Easter training at Malmalling.
Got the first two controls cleanly, then had a complete scale-fail on the short leg to 3. Pulled up well short of it and mucked around in the crap I should have known wouldn't be mapped before diving out to a recognisable rock and working out where I was.
Shins started hurting a bit on the way to 4, then finished them off with the big climb to 5. Hit 7, then 6, then bailed to 14, 15 and home walking 90% of it. No point in bashing them up more than necessary at this stage.
I suspect Easter is going to involve lots of foot strapping and ice packs. :)
Thanks for the tapes, Dalto. <3

UWA.
It's been a while since I've actually done a sprint course, and doing the one at Mt Lawley without flags didn't help - I rocked up at the first three checkpoints, saw every possible place you could attach a control and completely failed to notice the actual flag. Once I got that sorted I had a good run, slowly overhauling the guys who started in front of me. Still managed sub-6 min/km even with having to navigate, only 7s/km slower than last week. That's consistency, that is.
Massive difference from last season in that I never felt like I needed to walk because I'm too unfit to keep running, and I can navigate quite happily at my current pace.

Meeeeehh....zzzz.
Neither of us could be arsed this morning. Poppy seems to have infected me with her morning lethargy thing.
Another idiot-traffic morning today - Poppy nearly got run over at Lord St, then some tool in a bright red Commodore nearly pulled out in front of us at Bassendean - where by "nearly" I mean "pulled out halfway across the road then thought better of it when he saw me swearing at him."

Chilly morning - been a while since I could say that - but lovely weather for running. Added a bit on at the start to admire MH's grass patch, turned out to be a bad idea since I'd forgotten that the North side of Morrison is entirely steep hills. Oops. First half of the first 8min was a bit slow as I climbed out via Viveash, then settled down into a steady 5min/km on the railway. Second 8min was equally cruisy, but backed off the pace a touch to keep it so.
Brief run-in with a very chunky lab who had a bit of a growl and pounce at me as I ran past his owner. Wendy's done that so many times though, that I just shoved him off, checked that he wasn't going to follow me and kept running. It's not like I can berate the owners for having a large uncontrolled dog who likes to jump on people. *rolls eyes*

Couldn't be arsed this morning, then discovered a 15-20kph headwind and really couldn't be arsed. Thankfully Poppy was feeling flat too so we whinged at each other all the way to the city.
Garmin HRM is being a bit twitchy in the mornings atm, keeps registering 200-230 for a couple of minutes. Strange thing is the graph isn't abnormally spiky, it looks quite reasonable except for the actual reading.

Fun ride home with Poppy.
As we crossed the railway at Barrack St a group of 7-8 bikes went across the lights and off down the bike path. Pretended to forget that Poppy said she was knackered and suggested we latch onto the back. Got a ride through to Mt Lawley where the front two decided they'd quite like to slow down but not actually get out of the way or anything. Just as I was thinking about passing the four guys in front of us all overtook the front two and took off.
We took off in persuit, overtaking them one by one as they dropped off. The second last turned off at Bayswater, and the last disappeared off down Railway Ave.
Lots of 'normal' cyclists out today, 'twas a lovely day for riding. Pedestrians had all gone to sleep though, I had to growl at a few of them as they dawdled across roads away in iLala land.
