Mountain Biking race (MTBO Wombat) 2:35:35 [5] 28.2 km (5:31 / km) +550m 5:02 / km

Enjoyed the first half of this. Made one mistake missing the rough track 3-4 (debatable whether it really existed and if it was worth it). Maybe should have gone the other way round (then I could have compared splits with Clare).

Shoddy route choice 9-10, had caught Clare and then pushed bike up steep hill. Saw a route through the finish but decided the windy road south wasn't too bad (I think my brain died after the climb up). Was very wrong and probably lost at least 5 mins on Clare here - which then I think increased with all the hills).

Making us go back down from almost the finish to one more control was a bit unnecessary.

Loved half the course, was hating life from 10 onwards. Hilly firetrail riding not my idea of fun / orienteering.

I think there should be more Hagabys - such a fun format. Both the bush and I were a bit scrappy in places. Lost a bit of time getting confused on my second control, then lost a bit more going down a pretty small path. Other losses were mainly white stuff / open not being as runnable as expected and bailing to the path would have been quicker on a 1:5000 map.

Little ride to see how my bike was feeling. Got a bit lost, and ended up on some dubious trails.

Thought it was going to rain, it didn't so x-talons a bit unnecessary.

Was knackered so struggling. Session was round the 850m loop then up the hill, was too knackered from the loop to put much into the hill. Nice evening for it though.
