Well needed rest and travel (fly to Kona, west side of Big Island). Lovely dinner at Quinn's Almost by the Sea; owned by Packet fans.
Walking 3:30:00
Ridge walk at 3000' above Kauloa valley and Waimea Canyon. Great views. Slick mud made short ups and downs very challenging. Very high need for trail building and maintenance.
Just realised that I've had one of my low-grade infections for 3 days. Minor fever, exhaustion, toss-turn sleep - might be over it!
Swimming 40:00
Rest day. Long boat ride along Na Pali coast included (mediocre) snorkeling and sightings of dolphins, 1 sea turtle, 1 shark, and lots of birds.
Depth about 25 feet. Dove to 10-15 feet. Some small fish and coral.
Walking 2:30:00
Broke camp - back to Lihue for 3 nights in Garden Island motel. Beautiful local place to stay.
Along bluffs on South side of Kauai to Makauwahi Cave and beach. Great views, saw numerous sea turtles.
Machines 2:00:00
Not 'machines' but service project. Joined SurfRiders group to cut up and haul entangled fishing net and trash from 2 small coves S of Kumu Camp. Filled 2 pick-ups with nets.
In morning, toured lighthouse - interesting history and lots of birds on bluffs including red-footed booby, frigates, and white-tailed tropic bird.
