NC Middle Ofestivalen
Felt better physically today, less tired and stressed.

Was very excited before the race as the old maps looked awesome. The terrain didn’t disappoint. Probably one of the coolest courses of the year.

Good on 1 attacking control down the ridge. On 2 I made a parallel error on the boulder and lost maybe 15sec.

On 4 I basically stopped too early and thought I was further right. Realised when I saw the road and then got the control ok. Annoying and pointless 1min lost. Should have trusted my compass more.

Pretty happy with the rest of the race. Tried to pick lines and follow elephant tracks as much as possible. Issues with the compass around 8 and 9, the needle wouldn’t settle at all, apparently others had problems… powerlines?

Came 14th maybe 1min down where I would have expected to be. But still pretty happy! And since my goal this year was top 20 in NC (having barely managed top30 in previous years) I have to be satisfied :)

NC Longdistance Ofestivalen.

Felt a bit tired and heavy (long car drive + tough work week straight after Jukola).

Was OK at the start, almost missed 1 but just saw it to the left. Not that pleased with 6, saw the leg and was quite scared about attacking the control. Decided to follow the stream, but spent too much time looking at the control and my routechoice in the first half was poor. Following the stream was scary, disappeared several times+rocks everywhere. Finally managed to recognize the spur and knolls before the control.

Got caught by Torgier at 8 and struggled to keep up to 9. Norwegians run so fast in this rocky terrain. At 13 we caught Bjørn and made a small mistake. I was just hanging at this point, I couldn’t run downhill at those speeds and read the map. On the way to 15 I felt like I had contact and that the others were too high, saw Ivar up there as well, so decided I must be too low. Then we made a 1.45 mistake together.

Rest of race was high speed pack running.

Felt I was going quite well before I got caught, maybe If I was alone I wouldn’t have made those mistakes on 13 and 15, but I would have been running slower. So probably evened itself out haha.
