We looked for the least steep decent because I have some big blisters under my heels but Jesper was happy because his quads wer knackered

Trail de la rosiere
1st climb = 5km 10-20%
2nd climb = 2km over 30%
10km down hill at 20%
3rd climb = 2.5km 15%

First climb ok but felt abit tough but felt good on decent before the second climb. Realized I dropped the group I was with and gained a lot on the lad in front.
But the next big steep climb I lost ground again. But felt confident about the long drop after.
Smashed it down the long decent hoping to catch the up some of the lads a head. Especially after being told I was 4th.
At the bottom it was a really tough climb back to the village. Had a comfortable gap behind at the bottom and couldn't see anyone ahead.
A few looks over my shoulder and no one behind. Then all of a sudden a bright red tee shirt gaining on me!! Put my head down and worked like a bastard to try not get caught too easily, hopefully to be in touch near the top of the climb so I could attack into the less steep 1.5km into the village.
But felt myself cracking half way up the steep section, then it really started to kick in and had to walk. Scared look over the shoulder can't see any, "maybe i missed him because of the bushes?" Second looked still no one. The on the hair pins I really I broke him before myself.
Mental boost and able to shuffle off a bit quicker.

Finished 4th. Not a great positive to finish but cool to race in the hills again.
A said to Louise when we finished "it's a bit weird coming all the way working proper hard, ruining yourself and the the results don't mean anything because you don't know anyone or anything"
But still fun
