Orienteering 14:53 [5]

Summer series sprint at Black Mtn peninsula. Fast and furious - happy that I didn't stuff it up today!

Warmed up by jogging there from work, and warmed down by going back to pick up my car then spent a while collecting controls. I did half and Michael Burt did half so there was a bit of waiting around in the dark but otherwise good.

Tuesday Mar 9

Run 1:00:00 [3]

Vaguely thought about doing XC or Bilbys tonight but was a bit tired from travelling, so ran by myself instead.

Sunday Mar 7

Orienteering 1:50:00 [5]

Eureka Challenge NOD (National Orienteering Disaster) Day 2
Sprint race - slow and steady until I botched it in the watercourses at the end, not sure what I was doing but obviously not properly matching the terrain to the map. Enjoyed the long warm down back along the track.
Relay leg 1 - Jase threatened to go off for coffee when I started and he probably should have. Too slow to number one, because I was looking for a pit instead of a cave and ran over it several times until I finally found it.
Relay leg 2 - Best run of the weekend - at last I could read the map and made no mistakes. Good fun. Funniest moment was tagging Jase in the assembly area about 10 mins after I finished this leg instead of the changeover which is why he set off during the pressos. :)

Overall I was disappointed to come last as usual but came away feeling motivated to do better this year and at least improve my NOL ranking. Swapped classes to W21E for the Easter 3 Day so that's now my next focus race.

Eureka NOD (National Orienteering Disaster) Day 1
Was really looking forward to this run but struggled with navigation and fitness today. The last long leg was not working - I couldn't run properly (maybe a sugar low?), so stopped and walked to the finish. I think I was a bit in shock that my body let me down - it's been years since I've DNFd.
