NEOC meet at Hammond Pond, in Brookline I'd never been there before, and when I googled a copy of the map (on Christina's o-site), it looked interesting with lots of technical detail. And it didn't disappoint: the woods were wide open and fun.
The longest course was a 4.4 k brown with a map exchange. (The whole map is only about 1 sq. k). Unfortunately, it was another in a string of poor outings. This time, a total lapse of concentration led to a 3 minute error on an easy leg, a control in an open area next to a huge building. Sloppy on four other legs as well, with another 3-4 minutes lost. I seem to be running on auto-pilot, rather than using my head.

Noho xc course, as a time trial, since the Tuesday night races are starting in a couple weeks. I ran the new, extended course, which measured out to be a full 5k. I accomplished my goal of breaking 25 minutes, barely; it took a hard effort. I doubt I could break 24 in a race. At this pace, I really feel the difference in power between my left and right legs. But, on the positive side, when I think back to how it felt last fall doing the course in 26:30, there's a world of difference. 7:49, 7:47, 8:28, :52.
Trail Run 12:31 1.14 mi (10:59 / mi)

Easy jog from Smith fields to the start of the race course.
Note
Saw the foot doctor today.
For the neuroma, the best bet would be to get full length orthotics to replace the heel orthotics I have now. But I'll wait on this a bit: it's been getting better because I haven't done a road run (or worn my road shoes) in ten days. With DST, I can pretty much keep off the roads.
For the plantar fasciitis, there's not much to do but work on stretching my tight calf muscle. The heel pain has been getting worse over the last couple of weeks: very painful walking first thing in the morning after I get up, and some pain after running, but so far it's not bothering me much during the run.
Trail Run 51:16 5.39 mi (9:31 / mi)

Juggler, after lifting. Temp in the 60's. This was my best trail run in nearly a year. That's not saying much, but at least it's progress. Maybe I'm back on track after a few weeks of dealing with setbacks. Hard work going up the hills on dead legs. 8:31, 10:03, 7:18 (25:52), 7:06, 10:05, 8:12 (25:23).
