One year later, and I still don't get why people don't sign up for MoboGoGlobo!
It gets more publicity than any of our local events. It's posted all over the web (AP, Facebook, World-of-O). I scream and yell. It's for a good cause. Everyone who participated last year had a great time. We answer all of your questions.
And we're taking a step backwards from last year. We've only got one global signed up who didn't participate in some fashion last year.
I just don't get it. What do I have to do to get more people involved?

So.... I'm getting some private encouragement to go forward with my USOF logo, but I'm still being stubborn on the intellectual property rights with my design. I'm being told that it's standard practice for contests of this nature to acquire all rights from all entries. I'm not so sure about that.
Anyway, I was google surfing this topic, and I found the official rules to this contest to be particularly hilarious. At least they are upfront with it. (And note that's only the winning entry).
Note
I was talking with Gina about this today, and I'm currently leaning towards not officially re-submitting my USOF branding effort.
Re-arranging the text to say "orienteering USA" makes the design look unstable, plus is ruins the cleverness of the negative space O. The letter "g" drops down and impedes on some of the clean lines, and well, I dunno, I've been looking at the rearrangement for a while, and I just don't like it as much.
But, it's not really that. I'm making excuses.
I don't like the idea of giving up creative control of a logo once I hit the 'send' button. Because they can potentially modify it, they can send it to a million people who can vote on it, and comment on it, and then potentially modify it further. And then the real deal-breaker is that even if it's not selected, I no longer own that design, and I won't have anything to show for it.
(Would I use circle-in-arrow concept again? Probably not, but if a club or event ever wants a design in the future, it would be nice to have that in my arsenal.)
When I've worked with Eric on the Street Scramble & Big Tahoma designs, it always felt like I still had creative control. When suggestions were made, I was the one who got to implement them to my liking. And I think that it was mutually beneficial to both me as the designer, and Eric as the client.
Reading the design rules here, I just don't see the potential there for that.
