Yeah meant to be keeping it fairly chilled post weekend but didn’t really feel great for the splits I was going at compared to a few sessions recently but kinda expected now. Good to get it done and felt better after. Big sprint weekend so won’t session Thursday

JK Relay 1st leg - 2nd team with laura and Chloe

Yeah not a good day in the office, good start then off compss in green on #3 and 2 mins lost or something then was behind and catching, then caught a pack but mistake on the vague marsh. Was on bearing but distracted by others. The rest was alright a bit scrappy but was kinda generally completely on my own, and was thinking I was way way down and just fed up a bit but kept pushing. Didn’t hear commentary so was upset at finish but realised I came in second which baffled me, I guess results wise good learning that anything can happen etc just need to keep committed but yeah not too happy. Just very mentally tired and felt a bit overwhelmed after the race and in the evening just time for a reset and some planning for next block of exams and jwoc prep etc. feeling v excited and motivated just a bit run down. Physically actyally feel ok just a few big sleeps needed

British long champs - mulgrave woods - 1st

mixed feelings about this one. Overall very happy with result, a successful set of selection races in general but mainly just good confidence taken with orienteering speed at the moment both nav and physical speed, defo improvement from last year.
Not totally happy with performance today. felt quite mentally tired throughout and lacking a bit of motivation. Been revising a lot between jk and british and just feeling quite mentally fatigued tbh, physically felt ok just feeling broken and in need of a bit of a reset going into exams and training block pre JWOC but I think obviously the british and JK weekends just take a lot of of you.

From the start of the race didn't take good lines through the terrain, a little scrappy control circle on #1 and just didn't see the path route on #2, maybe rushing the planning a bit, but then suffered through the grotty open. Hesitant on 4, as very vague slope into control but then seemed to properly get into it between 5-10. Not really much routechoice on the long leg and planned some of the rest of the course while along big track which I gained quite a lot of time on. But in general nothing major in the first half, from #11 was such a grotty slope and was so vague just ended up off my line too far down the spur after tarzanning under many a tree. The rest of the slope was pretty much similar vibes, felt a bit fed up and just head wasn't in it. Defo mental fatigue vibes as physically felt fine just was being 'guided by the slope' which was sliding down and not across the slope. was suprised by result at the finish as lost what felt like a lot of stupid hesitant scrappy time in the second half but came away with a good result :) Just good lessons about how much mentally a race can take out of you especially when it so physical at the end just needed to properly refocus. Glad to be done now

York sprint selection race

Super duper annoying. Lost 1 minute on #11 (from splits w Rachel so far) because I chose the right route (a tad slower I think but not bad), and went on the upper layer but map didn’t say you could run on it so just got super confused and stressed and went all the way round the other way. Defo map slightly wierd but not gonna go blaming that also going all the way round was not a good shout after the initial mistake.

Really frustrating as the rest of the course went pretty well, slight hesitation on 4 with a short stop in focus but pretty good apart from that and did really enjoy. Moving alright legs a tad tired as didn’t really taper but not bad. Felt pretty controlled and good planning ahead, think I took fairly good routes ish. Although defo took way too long to plan 7.
Not really much pressure for this as good JK but still wanted a decent sprint for training. Ah well, plenty of time to sprint pre jwoc and still happy with orienteering speed and would have had good performance w out that mistake but guess u can always say tht
