Classical Stretch 55:00
Plantar fascia felt really tight today :(. Maybe the dog walk this morning over bumpy snow in boots did it? Followed the usual order of exercises and included some yoga poses and knee exercises too. Did 3 sets of calf raises at the end.
Snow Management 1:15:00
Ice-breaking and then shovelling ice and snow to get things cleared for the next big snow storm. I’m tired!

Francis, Andrew and I explored the new groomed trail along the Watts Creek bike path. We parked on Rifle Road just S of Carling and headed directly south to the path. That first section was icky and pitted (with dog poop in abundance!) and difficult for skate skiing, but it was a good warm up. Francis and I headed east towards Moodie/Corkstown intersection, and then back west again. I then skied to the railway underpass just after the 19th Tee, then turned around headed back to the car. We had put a 50-min limit on our outing. The snow was already fairly soft, but the skate track was quite good! It was a challenge to not plant my poles in any dog poop as I sped along :( Why don't people pick up their dog's shit? Saw the remains of a rabbit kill just near the TC Trail cut into Wesley Clover; a coyote must have chowed down right there! There was nothing left but blood, bunny skin, and coyote poop. Kinda cool, actually. The snow was still fairly crusty in the shaded bits of the path, especially along Chipmunk Alley, and it was fun to pick up speed in those spots. What a great idea to groom this path! Double-tracked as indicated on the Kanata Nordic website: section parallel to WC, all the way to Moodie, and for a fair ways to the west as well.
Wow! Sunny, warm day already. I was skiing with my shirt sleeves rolled up and with just a light biking vest on top. Fantastic workout, as there were no hills of any consequence to descend and rest on, and so the lactate just kept building up, hence a good 150 bpm heart rate as I reached the car.

Power-walk along the SJAM while Francis ran. The canal was closed so we changed a skate/run to a walk/run on the SJAM!
Beautiful sunny morning, and very mild. Quite busy everywhere!!! I was actually passing people who were classic skiing - hahaha!

Morning skate ski on the SJAM while Francis ran it. Crusty-fast, and hard on the wax. But there were still some nice, snowy, groomed sections in Kitch Woods and the Remic Greenspace, so I ended up mostly doing loops in those two areas. Beautiful sunny morning (-4C, -8C W/C) along the river. Saw the Buffleheads playing in the rapids!!!
Need to re-hot-wax my skis :(

Good effort ski with Francis from P5 to the Champlain Pkwy, Domaine MK to P6. Then turned back and cut through #7 to the Champers Pkwy and back to P5. Had to wax up ‘warmer’ half way. Skied a bit with Andrew until the Champ Pkwy. Gorgeous sunny day, bit of a wind, but the sun was warm on the bum :)
Saw and chatted with Anne Prendergast in the P5 lot!
