Trail 1:05:17 13.1 km (4:59 / km) +163m 4:41 / km
Wanted to wrestle first on the leaderboard from Kit so went out for a loop around Leigh Woods as usual. Got a bit confused about the paths in the dark!
In the end Kit went out for a run this evening as well but still my first 70km week.
Orienteering race 1:08:52 6.9 km (9:59 / km) +312m 8:08 / km
NGOC League Leckhampton Hill
A new very steep area which had a lot of contour detail in places. Started out well before a slight miss into 5 which sent me 20m away but down a very steep slope. Then was steady through 6 and 7 but struggled down the very steep slopes. Big miss at 9 where I misread the contours and ended up a huge bank again. Another lapse of concentration into 10 not counting the paths properly. Good into 11, 12, 13 and 14. 15 was the most interesting route choice and I decided to climb up and then contour around. I ended up way too high and in the middle of some thick gorse. After getting out of that, I was only 10m away from the upper path so joined that and attacked from the top which was much easier. Looks like the best route was straight and then along the bottom at the control wasn't too high up. Wasn't feel very motivated through the rest of the controls so went slowly and read contours carefully.
Running 57:38 12.2 km (4:43 / km) +122m 4:30 / km
Smashed it up to Stoke Park Estate with Tom and Kit. Came back along the east side of the M32 which was less inspiring.
Trail 1:21:13 14.2 km (5:43 / km) +176m 5:23 / km
SRC, barely anyone there tonight. Went hoping to do intervals but instead just a steady run up Nightingale Valley and then a long loop in Ashton Court. Pushed for sections at the end and up Nightingale for some training at least.
Trail 1:04:12 12.2 km (5:16 / km) +142m 4:58 / km
SRC with Mike and a small group through a new bit I hadn't been through before. Went along North St, then right at the entrance to the dear park and through Rownham Plantation. There is a nice steep technical path through there and lots of bluebells. Then went along the top until the Zig Zag path where we cut down vertically and then round the bottom.
