Running long (Riverhead Gravel) 1:53:52 [2] 26.2 km (4:21 / km) +461m 4:00 / km

Flattish run along the main gravel roads in Riverhead. Started at forestry road, to Bald Hill and back. Meant to do 2hrs but misjudged the distance - mapometer said it was 2km longer!

At rimmer road. Forest was still pretty smashed after the storm the other week - debris everywhere and loads of fallen trees. Looked like the forest had been nuked closed to the clearing by Coast road - couldn't get to one control as every tree was down, a big mess. Coast road itself is blocked in quite a few places by big fallen trees - lucky the storm hit after nationals!

Felt quite lethargic - not sure if it was all the spongy debris everywhere or just being a little tired

Starting a new program. Plan is to jiggle some sessions to maximise orienteering opportunities on the weekend and introduce more intensity. Starting with 100km roughly for the first few weeks, then looking at increasing maybe.

Bit blustery and felt like I needed to warm into this more. Ended on an interesting note when the police helicopter appeared started circling above me the last few km! It seemed to follow me home before turning back to where I had come from - wonder if they thought I was the perp!

Felt a lot more comfortable on this one and my HR was down a bit more. Had a nasty mid term exam between them about road engineering of all things

Stuggled a bit on the water jump mentally today for the first time. Was hurdling really nicely though, until I bailed twice on the last rep - still a bit of mental fatigue. This is an amazing way to measure recovery from my camp - curiously my body is fine but my the mental-physical part of my brain seems to lag more

Started from 3:10 for the first 800m dropping 10s on the next 800m and so on down to 2:30. Unfortunately my HR monitor didn't work, felt quite comfortable though which is promising!
