Very wet and windy so was a case of cruise the first half, then tuck in and push as hard as possible into the wind. Felt fairly good. Managed to stick with the group the whole time apart from the last rep when I got stitch in the last few minutes and my breathing went, but only a few metres behind.

I thought this was going to be a sprint so I was very disappointed to find out on the day that it was an urban. Started off by making an absolute rookie mistake to 1 by running down the wrong road. Then lost 45sec to 13 by running through the open field which in reality was very rough with nettles and brambles. Everything else was easy, got very bored of all the long legs...I think I know this map too well for it to be tricky route choice.

Braids XC - 3rd Felt like I started quite slowly, just couldn't get going for some reason and was struggling up the hill. So was quite far back when we hit the downhill and therefore behind a lot of people. Kept getting mad at guys running really slowly then sprinting when I tried to pass, only to slow down again. Had 2 girls in front of me on the downhill so set about trying to catch them. Managed to get in front just before the final bit through the trees and sprinted to hard to stay ahead. So was very happy to then find out I'd finished in 3rd place and taken 40secs off my time from 2 years ago :) Most of this was on the downhill as I was 8secs ahead of my time at 2km, so gained another 32secs in the last 2.7km.
