Midlands Champs Middle - 2nd

Tried to take it steady at the start but almost instantly started pushing hard. Clean at the start (although was an idiot and ran around the field to 2 as I thought it was OOB, but don't think it cost too much time) and up until 12, time loss was pretty minimal.

Little wobble to 13 as I overshot the knoll but then made a bit of a mess of 15 when I was slightly too high, missed the control as it was tucked behind a fallen tree and kept running upstream for a while before noticing. Lost maybe 45 seconds.

Good again to 16 but then took a bit of a sub-optimal route to 17 going right as I thought it would have a nicer attackpoint into the green, however when I got there, got quite confused and got thrown off by an extra fence on the map. Seeing Ali (2 min man) only added to the confusion and faffed a bit more before eventually working it out, losing about a 1 min.

Ali had disappeared by then so put a spurt on the 18, annoyed that I couldn't see him ahead but just as I got to the control he popped out from the right. Ran the rest together pretty cleanly - we were both idiots in a few places but at different times so no major time loss. Accidently gave him a nice headbutt in the stomach too at the last control.

Good race with a few stupid mistakes, although can't complain really as everyone was messing up.

Warwick University Selection Sprint Race

A reasonable run, although almost instantly legs were feeling completely empty and so struggled to get any speed going. This was okay through the accommodation block section (bar one small slip) as it was mainly nav and not much top end speed. However as soon as we hit the fast running towards the end, all I could muster wasn't enough and I just haemorrhaged time. Finished 8th in the end but feel like I should have been higher, but also think it's easy to look back and say that. Still plenty of positives going forward.

Cruisy around Lancaster Uni. Ran a few controls, did a drills interlude before another bit of jogging with the map. Managed to get lost inside one of the science buildings which was a first.
