Fairfield Half Marathon
Planned the run and executed well. Kept well hydrated on an 80 degree day with no clouds. Loads of trees, water stations and sprinklers to provide relief from the sun though. I could see the 2 hour pacer a few hundred yards ahead of me after the men and women came together at 1 mile but stuck to 9 minute miles. Past the pacer about half way and never looked back. Kept the pace going well with slower ups and faster downs. Did well at keeping my concentration throughout and consequently had a little left in the tank with a mile to go. This allowed me to pick up the pace at mile 12 and ensure I came in under 2 hours for the first time this year. Gained lots of confidence leading up to my last half of the year and Hartford Marathon.
