Orienteering 40:08  6.75 km (5:57 / km) +100m 5:32 / km
GUOC evening race on hot summer evening, at Kelvingrove and Uni. Clean run, 2nd place.
Orienteering race 40:52  6.3 km (6:29 / km) +50m 6:14 / km
Scottish Relays at Binning Wood, 3rd leg after solid runs by Steve and Amelia. Clean to 4 on tricky legs then binned 3 mins overshooting a pit on a short leg to 5. Took a daring straight route to 9, seemed rather high but checked code and ok. Clean to the finish and outsprinted a youngster on the run-in. Stunned to get a w9 mispunch at download. Studied the map confused and misread splits as suggesting I'd been at 151 not 159. Was later asked to download again as there'd been a mix-up with the course allocation, and I'd been to the right controls after all. Team 5th place on handicap +14 category, just ahead of two other teams. Happy with end to the season with better consistent runs in the last two weeks.

Jog/walk to the Scottish Champs start.
Orienteering 1:38:47  13.3 km (7:26 / km) +175m 6:58 / km
Scottish Champs M40 race. Made a solid start, lost a few seconds finding way into terrace at 4, then rushed out of it and got onto the wrong path and lost 2 mins at 5. Then a 2k cross country run along the beach. Seemed to find 10 (#213) rather early but ok...although Paul H caught me from 2 mins back here. Puzzled over 12, terrace under a crag mapped in open. Went up a crag too early, and then dropped down into control in the trees...Quite clean through next section in the dunes and into the woodland, and had some good racing with a RR who I'd caught. Slightly high for 18, only lost a few seconds. Nice and clean through to 29, and met Dad near 27. Slight wobble at 30 checking another control en route but clean finish on final loop. Overall a solid run and only a few minutes lost, but a bit frustrating as finished 7th only 5 mins behind 3rd place.
