Off work today and Mrs P wanted us to go out on our mountain bikes. Headed over to Ferguslie on the minor roads and tracks and then a few laps of the trails on Linwood Moss then home.

Interval session with the athletic club on the trails on Linwood Moss. Session was 3 x 10mins (2 1/2 mins easy jog recovery). Running okay.

Compass Sport Cup Qualifier at Dunrod Hill. A bit disappointed with this. Ran steady but never really raced this one. Struggled a bit in the very heavy going not helped by my sore throat (which is getting better) and standing about parking cars for 3 hours.

Not sure I got the routes right as I chose the long track / path runs whenever possible but think they were too far given how much time I lost on them.

Spent a very long intensive day at a Scottish Athletics basic coaching course in Kilmarnock - half of which was many, various warm-ups, sessions and cool-downs and even lots of stretching!

Headed over to Dean Castle Country Park afterwards for a run. Decided to do two laps of the 'Countryside Trail', but discovered it was very poorly marked and I got horribly lost and ended up doing a lot extra on the first lap. Ran the 2nd lap in reverse and went the right way. Lots of hills of varying length and gradient. Good to run somewhere different.

Throat sore and right ear now sore too.

Got a sore throat! Probably explains my performance yesterday! Oh well, no important races coming up in the next 2 weeks anyway.

Easy run from work at lunchtime up to the Lomondgate SUDs pond, a couple of laps and back.

Track session with the athletic club at Linwood track. Session was 15 x 400m (100m easy jog recoveries in 1min).

Unfortunately I had absolutely nothing in the tank and struggled really badly. Dropped out after 10 reps. Didn't do a cool down as I was so knackered.

Not sure what happened but perhaps a lot of running over the past few weeks, lack of sleep (3 hours last night!), and long, stressful days on my feet at work out on site this week had something to do with it.

Run round the Run the Park After Dark course. Was supposed to be running with Mrs P but she was running with Andy P so I ran on and caught a group of other runners and ran round with them.
