Warm up before intervals.

Short intervals session with the athletic club at Linwood track. Session was 15 x 400m (100m jog recovery in 45secs). I only did 4 x 400m. Legs a bit stiff and left foot sore again after getting noticeably better over the past week.

It never ceases to amaze me how totally crap I feel after a rest day! Went for a run from the house in the deluge on the (flooded) dirt trails in the woods round the Oilfields and Craigends. Legs like rubber and breathing non-existent.

Hills reps on Craigends Road hill. 2mins run up the hill, 2mins 45secs run back down. Running well for once. Good session. Need to ease back for the weekend.

Mountain biking with Mrs P - who's known as Mrs PB this week after her Linwood Parkrun pb yesterday.. Headed over to Ferguslie on various minor roads and farm tracks then loops and laps on the trails on Linwood Moss, including some really tough muddy sections.

Easy run from the house round the Oilfields and Craigends with a detour to check out the hill I'm hoping to use for the hill reps tomorrow evening as our usual hill is closed off due to building works.

Scottish Veterans Cross Country Trial Race at Tollcross Park, Glasgow. The trial race for the Scottish Team for the Vets Home International Cross Country Champs. 4 laps of 1 1/4 miles each with 3 substantial hills and a few other lumps and bumps on each lap. Underfoot conditions good with a thick carpet of grass underfoot which only got a bit muddy on the last lap. Ran a fairly good race with a reasonably fast pace throughout. The selection criteria for the M60's is the first 2 in the race plus 2 others based on all known form. I finished 3rd M60 so will have to wait and see what happens.

Reasonably fast cool down with Bobby Quinn and Stevie from Greenock Glenpark.

It appears that I have to go orienteering next week! It's been a while since I last orienteered - ie the 6-Days. Lots of map geeking required and trying to think positive thoughts about Inshriach which has been a bit of a Bermuda Triangle for me in the past.
