Peloton of 5 altho Vern had to deviate to a bike shop to get a new tyre after he found he was down to canvass. Lovely riding weather - still and just warm enough. Won hill sprint - helped by leading out and having a few people coming the other way blocking the pack behind me from passing. Lots of surging today - especially on hills.

O race 18:18 [3] 2.48 km (7:23 / km) +11m 7:13 / km

Sprint at Holy Family Primary School - good event - like World Champs had 4 in the box at the start and had 30 seconds to choose between 3 combinations for the first few controls - secretly told organiser - I chose A as it appeared at first glance to be slightly less complicated (maybe) - had at least a 50 metre lead over the other 3 going into control 1 - Anna H who was on A passed me going to 7 then I got ahead to 9 and was passed again over the oval - had a nice butterfly loop where I was ahead after but she missed 19 and went straight to 20 - kept pushing (too) hard and mis punched on 24 - I ran past it twice and did not see it (having small training O flags makes it harder to see them) - saw another control probably about 10 metres away and thought it might have been put out wrongly - little did I realise there were controls out there on the B or C course which I did not visit at all - this being one. Oh well - a nice run anyway.

Arboretum coffee ride from Duffy Heights and back. Took trails/single tracks on the west side of Dairy Farmers Hill for a change. Very green and grass quite long next to the single tracks. Peloton of 3 but joined at coffee by 3 others who drove.
