Rest and travel day

Monday May 22 #

Cycling 2:02:00 [3] 35.7 mi (17.6 mph)

On the Prairie Path with William. It says our average was slow because we were chilling with Luke and Jon the first couple of miles. Will and I were going around 19mph for quite a lot of it.

Fox river omnium day 2.

The first 2 ladies were no where near the rest of us but I was with a pack of 4 and again just sitting with/behind them. This course was a pain in the butt, I did not enjoy it. There was a .5 mile uphill each lap that was approx 110 ft of climb. I felt ok but not great going up. Unfortunately I lost count of laps and the officials did something a little weird with the bells so I had no idea we were finished when we were. I was about to go up the hill again and the 4 people in front of me went straight and then I realized it was over....I was literally just sitting behind them barely pedaling because I was getting ready for one more. :((((( Came in 7th and I should have been 3rd because I could have passed those 4 with ease if I only knew.

If only...

Anyways still fun to race even though both days were very frustrating. I guess now I'll learn from my two very stupid mistakes.

Fox river omnium day 1.
The weather was shakey before I raced and it rained a bit before Will started, of course right when I started it began to downpour. I think I swallowed 3 cups of water the first half of the race. Then we got shut down because there was lightening so I stood under a tent for 10ish minutes trying not to die of hypothermia since it was 50 degrees out and I was 100% soaked. Then they put us right back out there and we finished the rest of the race...kinda. It started pouring again but I felt really good. I wasn't working very hard and just sitting behind the front. I got both primes which were pretty easy to snag but I went into the last turn of the race too aggressively and completely wiped out. No one else got hurt (luckily or I would have felt bad) but my bike just slid out from under me and I went right across the road into the sidewalk. Nothing too bad just a pretty bruised and road rashy left hip and elbow and scraped up right knee. Didn't hit my head too hard so I just had a little headache right after. Anywayssss I got up and the official came over and told me to walk my bike the last 100m and across the line so I got points. I came in last lol but I still finished!

Really bummed since I would have come in 4th but been the overall leader since I got both primes.

Oh well! :)

Note: not sure of the time because we stopped and I wiped out.
