Senior national track
3000m steeple chase
Didnt feel fantastic, could have done with more food this morning, but delighted to reduce the time by 29 seconds compared to varsity. Plenty room for improvement.
I need track spikes.
Was in 4th for the first 4 or so laps, and feeling ok, then went back into 5th. Started suffering, but kept on his shoulder, and on the final lap started lengthening the stride on the back straight. Accelerated out of a decent final water jump and was just at his back. But then the final hurdle came and that killed me. Had no energy for a final kick and he finished 1.5 seconds ahead of me.
We then found out that Rory Chessar had been disqualified for stepping inside the track, and that this was a fight for bronze. I probably could have mustered some sort of final kick but I'd say he always had me covered.
