Type: Orienteering - Regional
added by: RichardLund
Times: Registration: 08:00 to 09:00
Starts: 08:30 to 09:30
Prize-giving: 11:30 (including lucky draw)
Courses: 6 Colour Coded Courses catering for all levels of orienteering ability and
fitness. Beginners are strongly advised to enter the Yellow, Orange or Light
Green courses.
Facilities: Make a day of it !. After the event, enjoy a picnic on the lawns and then
spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Monument and various
fascinating Museums (additional payment), full of National history. There is
also a Restaurant and a Take-Away kiosk available. Bring a MTB to ride the
tracks afterwards too.
Terrain: Ideal for “real” Orienteering - interesting hilltop with numerous, intricate path
networks, leading out to typical highveld terrain, of semi-open and rough
grassland to densely vegetated bushveld. Lots of rocky features will be used
on the longer courses that extend to a second hilltop, featuring another
historical site.
