NEW UPDATE 11-1-2010
The maps are being produced as I type this update so these changes should be final.

The 12 hour event is a true ROGAINE which includes; 25 pre-marked checkpoints, hash house located near center of course, 1/24,000th scale USGS map, water on course, ROGAINE scoring (first CP number X 10), carry all mandatory gear (see above), no gear drops. The 12 hour course includes about 30 square KM and the 24 hour about 60 square KM.

The 24 hour course will start at the same time and location as the 12 hour. You will receive the same map as the 12 hour. You run the same 12 hour course BUT will have additional CP's to plot by UTM coords on to the same map. These will be given out at 3 different locations which double as 12 hour CP's and are water drops with a volunteer (hopefully). You will know these locations at the start. You may visit these at anytime you choose, run the course any direction in any order. These additional CP's will loop you away from the 12 hour course and are higher point values with greater distances between each of them.

No one is required to come back to the Hash House until the finish, but everyone is welcome back to refuel, refresh (you will stink) and recharge ( the course is brutal). We took about 18 hours and 30 miles to set the 12 hour course.

Maps. We are suppling each person a map produced by MY Topo on waterproof paper at 1/24,000th scale and a UTM grid. Map preview. Great news, we are putting on the main trails needed to navigate this course.

UPDATE:
We have began setting the course and have made some changes. The 12 hour will have over 20 CP's surrounding the Hash House. We are planning on pre-marking these on a USGS map. The back side will be park trail maps. The 24 hour course will start with the same, then will be given UTM's for additional CP's at remote locations to add to the challenge. The 12 hour course may prove to be plenty for many 24 hour racers, it is very challenging terrain. We have a great menu of food planned for the weekend. Be sure to get signed up before Oct. 25th to get the wicking shirt. Watch our facebook page for updates.

Although this event is called a "Rogaine", it is not a rogaine. The 24 hour course will have 3 or 4 legs, like an adventure race. You will get the UTMs for leg one, once completed with all those, you end up at a remote camp and you will get leg 2 UTM coords then off you go to get all those and so forth. You may skip or get CPs in any order. You will get UTM coords and you will need to plot CP locations onto your map using the UTM grid.(see Maptools.com). There are houses that border the road, and other private property. The course is being designed to direct people away from private but will be very tempting to shortcut.
