Entry-deadline: Jul 19

Type: Orienteering - Local

The Canoe-O is on Mogadore Res. owned by the City of Akron and managed in cooperation with ODNR. It is a 1,000 acre lake with about 19 miles of shoreline. The Buckeye trail follows the north shore of the lake. It is a beautiful lake with several islands. Motorized watercraft are prohibited.

The event will use the area west of SR 43.

It is a score event with 2 classes (canoe, kayak but biased toward canoes). It will include overland CPs. In the past there have been underwater controls requiring triangulation.

Navigate the NEOOC website for 2008 canoe-O results with more of a description. USOF also has links about Canoe-O.

The city rents out old aluminium canoes on first come basis for $10. They have about 15. Otherwise, bring your own canoe or kayak.

Maps will be waterproof, scaled at 1:13,000, with control punching included on the map.
