Fluvanna Parks and Recreation has graciously given FUMA permission to hold a meet at Pleasant Grove Park, on Saturday, February 24. This is an all-comers meet, whether you are a top competitor, or want to take a recreational hike with a map through the woods.
Start times will be from 1000-1300 at the pole barn
We will offer courses from beginner (white—all controls on the trail) to red, and we may even stretch a blue out of the area.
Improved map—Greg Ahlswede, a member of the US National Team, has been able to find some LIDAR data for the park. This means greatly improved contour lines!
Cost is $5 for a map. All proceeds go to the FUMA orienteering team in our effort to go the US Junior Nationals in Massachusetts. Last year’s event helped us get to Texas, where our JV team placed 2nd in the nation. Our hope is to improve that result this year.
Letting me know about attendance before the meet would be helpful so that I can have enough maps printed.
