EMPO - club champs - Thacher Park

Voorheesville, NY [topo]
Nov 8, 2008

Type: Orienteering - Local

Info:
From the course setter:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you haven't as yet made plans for this coming Saturday (November 8), I'd like to point out that EMPO is holding its Club Championship meet at Thacher Park. You of course do not have to be a member of the Club to compete (however, only members can be Club Champions; and you would have to join before you race).
This year's race Registration and Starts/Finishes are all at Hailes Cave Pavilion, in the northwest corner of the park. There will be arrow signs from near the Park Office, which is at the western side of the Park on NY
157. More direction info, course statistics and notes, even old maps, can be accessed from the EMPO web site schedule page here:
http://empo.us.orienteering.org/schedule/
I'd like to make the point that if you even just think you might attend, please send me an e-mail reply saying that you plan to come, and on what course you will be competing. This will help insure that I have the correct
number of maps printed and available to handle all of those who wish to participate. I will have extra maps, and may even be able to print some more on site, so even if you don't let me know ahead of time, I still hope you will come; but it's a lot easier for everyone if we have a fairly accurate advance count of who is going to do which course.
One piece of bad news, received just yesterday, is that Thacher Park has had (another) water main break, and so the bathrooms we had been anticipating to be available near the Start/Finish probably won't be. At this moment, the only functional bathrooms are at Hop Field, which is at the eastern edge of the Park Road. We may get lucky, and the Park may get the break fixed by
Saturday; but don't count on it.
Any questions, feel free to send me an e-mail, or even call (518-872-1993).
