It took almost two hours to get the email from live stream that is needed to finish creating an account. So don't wait until the last minute and expect that you'll be able up get signed up and watch immediately.

Coverage starts in just under 3.5 hours from the time of this posting.

Yeah emails take a while to get through to the technology deficient US. They need to be channeled through by carrier pigeon.

You'll even note the link above refers to an event that happened five months ago - that's how slowly the internet works!

Man that's a long time. If I remember correctly it wasn't that bad for me.

Nice coverage!

Good job on the shoutout Toph

Yes, thanks, Toph!

Only enhancement I would suggest would be giving some viewing times for those of us for whom tomorrow is yesterday or vice verse. ;-)

Initially, I looked up the time zone related to you, but maybe that turned out to be two hours different than the time zone of the event.

Anyway, today, or is it tomorrow, I am happily listening to Blair, and every so often, I get to view Blair as well.

Unofficial state team points: 3-way tie between Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria on 20, then ACT on 18. NZ way out in front as usual.

tRicky:
Doesn't WA get organiser points? That'll bust us out into the lead I reckon.

WA team points + average of top three teams for the organising committee = win

Thanks Valerie for the feedback. Yeah it is in perth time so thats not where my location on attackpoint is.

I will be trying my best to get another one out tomorrow. Hopefully this time on time... for a 10am start perth time.

Oct 1, 2014 12:09 PM #
Toph:
yeah you can go to the livestream page (following the link above) and watch the replay. When I get home I will upload the full recording which is in HD not the 360p or so quality that gets streamed out.

A mispunch from the WA boys' team in the relay... what are the odds???
Oct 2, 2014 11:54 AM #
Oxoman:
Thanks Toph. I got home in time today to watch the live stream. Just a grizzle that you stopped the stream before all our Victorians had finished.

The generator ran out after six hours.
Oct 3, 2014 12:24 AM #
Juffy:
Which is weird, because it took 6 hours to get the bloody thing started on Wednesday. :)

Toph:
Hey Don.. Yeah I think I might have missed a few... I did get into a bit of pack up mode. The recordings I have went for a bit longer so that may cover it, may not though. They will go to youtube when I get home next week.

All that high tech and it ran out of gas!
Oct 3, 2014 1:59 AM #
Toph:
well it didn't quite go down Don. Jimbo managed to save it just.
Oct 3, 2014 3:31 AM #
tRicky:
I was joking. I have no idea what happened out there.
Oct 3, 2014 8:41 AM #
Uncle JiM:
tRicky, we knew you were joking, but in this case, you were right. So we thought we would let you know :)

blairtrewin:
By the way, final scores: Tasmania 40, Queensland 38, ACT 37, NSW 34, Victoria 33, SA 21, WA 9.
Oct 3, 2014 11:20 AM #
tRicky:
Well we beat NT at least.
Oct 5, 2014 6:13 AM #
gruver:
Ignoring some scatter in the data, it looks like the smaller the state the higher the score. Should Australia unfederate? Scotland, you had your chance.

Perhaps the USA should ite. (I wrote ununite but the word looks funny, must be the double negative.)
Oct 5, 2014 9:08 AM #
tRicky:
Can you believe WA didn't even win the interstate relay shield (I think it's called the Xanthormorpheaaa Trophy or something) today despite having the most teams? We missed out on a tie with some other state (I forget who actually won it) by just one point. The blame should fall squarely on Simmo who, if he'd had spent as much time checking control codes as he had in organising the teams, may not have MPed and could have gotten us points in the M65 class.
Oct 5, 2014 11:17 AM #
gruver:
Tsk tsk. You shouldn't grass on your team-mates tRicky.
Oct 5, 2014 11:33 AM #
tRicky:
To be honest, if I'd run M35s with Fletch and Graham Harris (whose M21AS team MPed), we would have picked up 2 points for being the only other team in that class competing.

LOST_Richard:
act your age tRicky
Oct 5, 2014 1:03 PM #
simmo:
Well I accept the blame. However I think the Vics deserved the win as they had 6 class winners to our one - which (mea culpa) should have been 2 :(

Our score was achieved through weight of numbers and lots of 2nd and 3rd places, after discounting gruver's mob that is.
Oct 5, 2014 1:24 PM #
Tooms:
I found it awkward to check descriptions in the front if the map - it might actually be less of a hassle while running to have ye olde descriptions sticky taped to the back of the map!

(I'm note advocating a return to that, it just occurred to me out there as I was stumbling around incompetently)
Oct 5, 2014 2:04 PM #
tRicky:
Did we only have one win? I thought we won M35s and some other classes (did we get 2nd and 3rd in W55 or W65?).

I also didn't like the stumbling, refolding the map (especially whilst looking out for rocks in the grass), but I expected to have to do it today.
Oct 5, 2014 2:26 PM #
simmo:
I should have said the Vics had 6 x A class wins for 3 points each. We won two classes - M35A (well gruver's mob actually won it but they don't count) and M21AS which is only worth 2pts.

I heard people complaining about the rocks in the grass, but I found that for most of my course (and I was a first leg runner in the lead through that area) that there were tracks through the grass, and if you followed them you could see the rocks and avoid them. So the tracks were either left by the setters, kangaroos running scared, or more likely younger legs (M16 for example, but I haven't seen where the other courses went so not sure).

By the way, what has happened to the splits from the Long? They are all showing as 'inactive' (Healthway would not approve).
Oct 5, 2014 2:35 PM #
blairtrewin:
Looks OK on Winsplits (apart from issues related to one of the early controls which I assume had its time set wrongly).
Oct 5, 2014 10:06 PM #
tRicky:
Another issue with Eventor I imagine.

Will be interesting to see the splits on AP to compare where I made 'errors' versus Winsplits. Winsplits says 18 and 26, whereas I say 12, 24 and 26 (24 was only a small overshoot though - 12 was fairly major).
Oct 6, 2014 1:18 AM #
fizzyred:
I suspect that the wrong splits file for the long had been loaded in Eventor and no one had bothered to check it and reload the correct one.....
Oct 6, 2014 1:26 AM #
Toph:
so which file where is wrong??? Eventor does nothing with the splits (unless things have changed recently).. winsplits is right for all the classes ive looked at (elites) apart from the 1 dud control.

And I'm pretty sure the file I uploaded to winsplits came off eventor.. Anyway let us know and I'll try and get it fixed but I think Andrew might want a well earned day of not thinking about orienteering.
Oct 6, 2014 1:57 AM #
simmo:
Andrew is preparing stuff for STSW today - and driving to Bunbury!

The incomplete splits files are on the WA Results page, which apart from Attackpoint is the only place I would know how how to look for them.

Aside from the Long, the relay splits are not there either.
Oct 6, 2014 2:28 AM #
fizzyred:
Toph : WA website pulls the splits from Eventor (which has a place holder for them but doesn't display them) and then displays them.

Clever Juffy code :-). Paul may be able to say if it is the file or the code?

Time on the dodgy control wasn't set wrong, all controls were synced by Noel Thursday night. It is most likely a battery that is losing it's power, that then causes it to drift back in time
Oct 6, 2014 3:19 AM #
Boltboi:
I would love to drift back in time. It just seems to be wizzing past to quickly right now.

All WA bricks were checked for Battery life 2 weeks before the event and any that looked suspect had batteries replaced. Can someone please let me know which brick it was so i can track it down to check it. I understand it might even be an outer state brick.
Oct 6, 2014 3:37 AM #
blairtrewin:
It was the 3rd control on the M21E course. It also made no sound (only a light).
Oct 6, 2014 4:25 AM #
tRicky:
It was on other courses too. I noticed the no sound as I went to run off and had to look at the SI stick to see it was flashing. My map is at home but Winsplits has it as #172 so not one of ours. Damned easterners trying to ruin our event again!
Oct 6, 2014 4:41 AM #
Toph:
Yeah I know Juffy is about the only one pulling things off eventor. If sweden wasn't money hungary there would be no need for it though as swedish eventor is linked to winsplits which I think is great. anyway I will try and look at it but in the end it is a National event and so the results only really need to go to event and a splits service of preference.. for me and plenty of people thats winsplits.

I can tell you that the final results file in eventor is not the one that I used for winsplits. I know that the results have been built manually from the 2 computer cause people don't know that it is stock standard to need to download at 2 computer during a major carnival. That has meant that both computers are incomplete so a work around has been happening.

anwyay here is the winsplits link if anyone wants it. http://obasen.orientering.se/winsplits/online/en/d...

Juffy:
Toph - if you can work out the offset, I have a little program that prods the time for individual bricks in either direction to correct for this kind of thing. I'm happy to massage data if you want to fling it my way.
