Alison Crocker (USA) 12:55

Wyatt Riley (USA) 14:38:30

Live tracking is up, women's course looks like it'll be fun...
Every track disappears once they go over the ridge on the way to no. 1!
Beautiful day here, mostly blue sky for now.
Have tried reloading, it still happens. Radio problem?
Looks like Hannah handled the first part of the course well, 12:43 to the first radio (control #4). Unfortunately seems that the reception for the gps units is quite poor. (On the plus side, this will make it much easier to get more work done today.)
I suspect the gps tracks will be much better from 9-16(F) since those controls seem to be in a sort of bowl facing the arena. That is, if they work like that (line of sight to arena or something).
There's not a lot of orienteering after the 10th control.
It seems the GPS have satellite signal, but have trouble transmitting back to base...
Yeah, the interesting part of the course is the stuff behind the ridge!
I wonder if they will be able to download routes after the fact.
Welp, first arena passage, still no dot. There goes that theory.
90 second start intervals?
Why is that
According to TV, 18°, almost sunny, and Simone is "defending champion"...
Hannah was taking the upper route to 14 and then her dot disappeared just before the critical moment. These GPS failures just add to the suspense!
Or they make me wonder why I paid for tracking, when tv is free anyway. I guess the tracking will get more exciting later.
Ali looks surprised to be on TV.
Ali 2mins down after 10 mins, 40s ahead of Hannah, or so.
And I just heard Ross shouting Kiri kiri as Evely finished :)
From what I can see of Hannah's track it looks like a couple of mistakes but overall good. And she'll get points!
Louise off to a good start.
louise has caught and passed Ali
Oh, can change the tv streaming to HD, that's much better :)
Yle and web give different video.
Emily racing well! In fact great runs so far for both of the Canadians!
Really good by Emily, but lost 20s to 11, running too far right.
Looks like Ali punched at radio2 2 seconds ahead of Louise.
Emily looking really good!
woah, did Minna really do that, 4th 1st 4th 1st 4th 1st 4th 1st 4th... at woc middle
Gotta tell ya I've never understood the term 'pre-warning'. Is it a warning or not? ;-)
Who's that runner smiling ear to ear after they cross the finish line?
Oh, who else? ;-)
Great run Emily!
Am I reading the live results wrong? Is it looking like top 16 for Emily??
@AZ, yes you are. top 15 I'd say :)
Is there any way to solve the video constantly going horribly pixelated? I am just refreshing every time which is a bit of a pain.
Mine keeps crashing. Try getting TV stream from elsewhere (eg SVT ?). Not too impressed.
Surely they should have a good idea of the traffic by now? Is that the issue?
It's not very impressive.
Well, if people hear it's good, more people sign up, so it gets worse. Yay.
Ida Annika Tove!
Go! Non! Gonon! is out running....
11th for Emily! The smile makes you think she's not a threat...
not much gps signal from the men...
EMILY!!!!!!!!! Onward and Upward. Great run for Louise, too. Nice to see Canada high in the standings.
Promotion for Canada? ;-)
Emily's 11th is also a Commonwealth gold! :-) Louise in 28th equals her best placing ever in middle. Best ever day for Canadian women at WOC?
Emily's 11th place performance today is 3rd best ever placing at a WOC for Canada behind Sandy Hott's 9th in 2005 and Ted de St Croix's 10th in 1985. Emily's % behind winner today is a best ever for a Canadian woman. Ted was 7.8% behind in Australia.
Ali on the big screen getting interviewed for Univision, but no sound here... :-)
Conor started well!! Go on, Conor!!
Conorrrrrrrr......................
I hope there are radio problems...
East of 7 and 8, doesn't look like Pat's been there... hopefully conor hasn't either ;)
Sharon And Giacomo just starred on the big screen.
Wyatt at arena passage, 12th of 17.
Go Jules - fastest through Radio 2...
Another good run by a Kemp-ster.
Looks like it was really tough out there.
Maybe it wasn't
a fiasco after all.
Not for the women.
We need to see the winning times for the men.
It looks like great terrain (at least from the tweets.)
This is going to be one ugly results list. Can someone remind me what the problem with qualis is?
Hector still clinging to a comfy chair.
Thiery fastest so far to 11.
Amazing.
well, today's results could not be cuter. (again)
Thierry 'mp' in the live results?!
they are announcing he is dsq.
Plot twist!
Oh no ;-(
Brutal news about TG
he didn't look happy when he finished.........
That's a good one to skip. Just ask Bertuks.
Happy for Kratov. I wonder when TG realised.
Well, at least Wyatt can now say he once beat Thierry ... urp.
Yep Ukraine a medal after what, almost 20 years?
Just a note that we've got an interview with Ali on the highlights for this race.
An individual medal, I meant.
Can Russia lay claim to this medal? I mean, isn't he from Crimea?
What happened to Thierry?! Please fill in those of us trying to work and trying not to follow along...
Thierry skipped control 6. Let's see if this tweet embed works; it shows the GPS track.
Thierry reportedly did not go to the 6th control.
Can Russia lay claim to this medal? I mean, isn't he from Crimea?
Yikes - this could really send things into a tailspin
I saw Kratov's post on Facebook saying (in pretty strong terms) that he did not approve of Russia's invading Crimea. So Russia has no moral right to claim his medal :)
So did TG skip a control, started navigating to #7 from #5, hit the trail, started going right as if he approached it from #6, recognized the reentrant and corrected to #7? Fascinating stuff.
The difference is TG probably only does that mistake twice in his career, whereas some of us do it several times every season!
Skipping a comtrol is certainly unusual when it comes to Thierry - but, he has actually mispunched twice in Silva League events in Sweden this spring...
Unfortunate quote of the week...
"It is easier to win the long distance because there you can make some mistakes and still win", Thierry Gueorgiou
Thierry also skipped a control during the relay in Trondheim but was able to go back and get it.
