Discussion: USA O-banner for Swiss O-week?

Perhaps someone going from WOC to SOW can bring the USA O-banner-on-a-pole? Great way set up a meeting point at the assembly areas. (I know, easy for me to say - I'm not the one who has to lug it around.)

We have it at WOC. If you can figure out someone who will be heading that way, it's all yours! Otherwise, it's heading to JWOC with Ethan Childs.

I vote we let the Juniors & fans have it at JWOC!

We'll have to come up with a creative alternative for a banner at SOW, perhaps a tree branch with Ross' underwear.

Or the NoName sprint shorts. Proper patriotic vibe to the underwear, then.

Cristina:
I like it. But will the shorts be visible if they're 2m above everyone's heads?

Unlike my underwear, which can be seen clearly from space? What are we saying here exactly, Cristina?? :)

The uniform shorts are teeny?

Has Ethan agreed to take it to JWOC? Asking because I bought his flight tickets which included paying extra for bags and that was not included. That airline charges by the bag plus an extra 50% if not purchased ahead of time--it could easily add to 50 Euros?

Sure, JWOC would be the priority. But if Ethan can't take it (and no one else can, either), then Ross, Sam and Jeff are going from WOC to SOW, so it would be up to them.

Tori is also going from WOC to SOW.

@carlch: JTESC will reimburse you/Ethan for extra charges related to bringing the banner to JWOC.

Assuming he agrees, I would go ahead and purchase the extra baggage soon, in order to avoid the 50% gouge penalty.

Is there a plan for what happens to it after JWOC? I mean, who is bringing it home or taking it to the next event? Just askin because if the thinking is Ethan, there will be even more baggage charges.

GuyO:
tbd, but if it goes home immediately after JWOC, JTESC would cover that as well.

Ethan did agree (via email, so I can dig up the writing if you need it) to take the flag. I understand the frustration of needing to check a bag because of the flag, a bag you might otherwise have taken as carry-on, because I just lost my $50 to check the damn flag from England to Italy. And this is money that the senior ESC probably sees no reason to cover. However, if the team leaders insist that we have a flag, it needs to get to these competitions somehow.

I suggest asking Glen about covering the cost of transporting the banner, not as a team expense.

Um, I remembered about the flag part of the flag too late, so it isn't here. =( I'm really sorry, it's been a hectic set of weeks leading up to WOC, including packing my entire apartment up and I know where the flag is, but it's nestling with my skis in someone's closet right now. Especially apologies to Alex, and I'll take the darn peg thing home so at least those bits are reunited.
