I've been running back from UW each day, it's 4.5-5 miles depending on the route.

Maybe there's a transit option to your employer's new location? On the way back you can get off X miles early, and run the rest of the way home. Or run X miles to the nearest transit place from work, and take transit the rest of the way home?

Seems like you are familiar with "running errands" to the video store... have you ever run with a pizza before? 10 mile pack? 20 mile pack? Those are some things to do too. Run with groceries.

Another route is just to make running more fun, right? You could listen to stuff (http://www.digitaltrends.com/music/best-podcasts/#...), or do street-o, or do workouts instead of easy runs.

10 mile and 20 mile pack should say pound instead. Did my autocorrect go crazy again?
