This photo of the Wave 5 Start Group (mostly elite pro runners, as you can see) from last year's Daze 2 race is a good example of the sort of terrain and almost overwhelming racing excitement competitors will face this year, though there are fewer cattle in this picture.

Dr. G. Baird is in his 23rd minute of a "few, brief comments" (as he put it) about the origins and usages of nylon as an O' control fabric, and he is just about to delve into stitching techniques commonly employed in control construction. That was about when Sam Listwak started yelling: "Freebird!" (9th from the left, with the yellow panted Mark Parsons standing behind him.) There are many well known orienteering personages visible here. For instance, at far right, Troy Bozarth, who just a few moments earlier whispered to Brooke Mann: "Okay, Graham knows a lot about fabric, but I can take him in Corn Maze orienteering any time."

Knowing Sam well, I do believe he was requesting the 'Baby I Love Your Daze/Freebird' medley.
