I really liked this race last year. 7 mi, in CT, lots of rocks, and views, and up and down. About a half mile of flat :). Low key environment, super friendly.

I might run that, but I don't think it's long enough to absolutely definitely need training and thus inspire me to do it!

Even if it doesn't inspire your training, the People's Forest race is a lot of fun. I don't remember the views, though.

Right in my backyard, so to speak, but I seem always to be away that week. This year, too.

There aren't any views to speak of. There might be in January; not in the summer.

The New Haven thing to do is to run the road race on Labor Day, not that I have ever actually done it. 20km is starting to be enough to be worth training for.

If you want a proper long trail run, this 50km is local and on a gorgeous set of trails.

And I presume you know that New England (mostly MA) trail races can be found at the GT series page. I've never been disappointed with one, and you can get a sense of the depth of field from previous years. Greylock, Wapack, Pisgah, and Mt Toby have all been good for me.

Also, I'm somewhat tempted by this, but unfortunately will be back very late the previous night from a conference so will probably not do it in the end. Another year.
