My first US Champs! I ran in board shorts.
Haha. I bet that went well.
Undoubtedly Ali will catalyze CROC into a new O-juggernaut to be reckoned with at relay champs and other national competition.
I ran M-Red and found 'em all, so that counts as a win. My first ever A-meet was the week before in Cle Elum, a race in which I assumed that the descriptions were printed on the map, and they weren't, and I didn't notice until 5 minutes later and I was at the 1st control. One of my proudest achievements was finishing my 1st-ever A-meet (and 2nd race ever in wilderness) without a description sheet without a MSP.
Ali could whip up a competitive women's team no biggie, with Sue and Abra. Other than that, CROC really doesn't have anyone.
Word. Hell, the three of them could probably go to these relay champs in two weeks and be a competitive six point team. As for dudes, I've been to three or four meets down there in the last few years and I've yet to meet a male CROC member under 50, which is weird because orienteering is a bizarre enough activity that you'd think it would appeal to the outdoorsy, "Keep Portland weird" constituency.
