The first preview release of OpenOrienteering Mapper for Android is available now. With live GPS display, free-hand scribbling and digital compass support, it focuses on mobile surveying. Maps can be easily transferred to the device for surveying, and back to a PC for the final drawing. The full announcement and the download links are here:

Naïve about Android apps. Appear to have installed on an LG running 2.3 but "Open" produces a blank screen.

Hmm....took it out with me yesterday, whipped out my N7....and no GPS support, GPS Position button disabled. *cries*

Thomas - the only GPS-related ticket I could find was this one. Do you want some details added to that, or should I open a new bug?

The linked ticket is for the implementation of GPS support in general, so I'd say open a new ticket.

Normally the only reason for the GPS button being disabled should be the map not being georeferenced. Does your map have a valid non-"local" georeferencing?

Juffy:
It should be in UTM, but might be GDA94 Z50, which probably counts as a 'local' one even though it's half the bloody continent. :)

I'll check when I get home and lodge a ticket if I can't solve it.
